Kontos Insecticide
Kontos Insecticide is a systemic insecticide and miticide powered by spirotetramat for control of listed sucking insects and mite pests on ornamental plants, greenhouse crops, nursery stock, interiorscapes, and non-bearing fruit and nut trees. As a Group 23 insecticide, Kontos provides a valuable mode of action for integrated pest management and resistance-management programs.
Kontos offers two-way systemic movement through both xylem and phloem, moving upward and downward within treated plants to help protect new shoot, leaf, and root growth. Kontos may be applied as a foliar spray or container drench, giving professional ornamental growers and applicators flexibility for managing difficult pests in labeled production and ornamental settings.
Features & Benefits

✓ Flexible application options include foliar spray, container drench, drip irrigation, micro-irrigation, overhead irrigation, ebb and flood, and hand-held irrigation equipment
✓ Suspension concentrate formulation contains 2 pounds of spirotetramat per gallon for professional ornamental and nursery use
Labeled Use Sites
Kontos is labeled for ornamental plants in greenhouses, nurseries, and interior plantscapes, including non-bearing fruit and nut trees. It is also labeled for foliar insect control around greenhouses, field-grown nurseries, container stock, outdoor ornamentals, and ornamentals grown in flats, benches, or beds.
Target Pests
Kontos is labeled for control of many pests, including adelgids, aphids, leafhoppers, mealybugs, psyllids, scale crawlers, spider mites, spittlebugs, tarsonemid mites, thrips, whiteflies, rust mites, and immature thrips.
Application Notes
Apply Kontos according to the application method and use site directions on the product label. Foliar applications may be made using properly calibrated ground sprayers, including hand-held and backpack sprayers, or through properly designed sprinkler-type chemigation equipment where allowed by the label. Apply when pests first appear or when damage is first noticed, and spray thoroughly for best performance.
Kontos may also be applied as a container drench using soil drench, micro-irrigation, drip irrigation, overhead irrigation, ebb and flood irrigation, or calibrated hand-held irrigation equipment. Apply in sufficient water to wet the potting medium without loss of liquid from the bottom of the container, then follow with moderate irrigation. Kontos works best as a preventive or early-threshold treatment; heavy mite populations may require a miticide with an alternative mode of action.
